The Housing Authority of the Township of North Bergen provides rental assistance under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program to an additional 420 low-income families residing in privately-owned rental units located throughout the Township of North Bergen.

The purpose of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is to provide safe, decent, and sanitary housing for low-income households in the private rental market. Eligible households pay a portion of their monthly income towards their rent and utility costs. The balance of the rest is paid by the program directly to the owner of the rental property.

Section 8 is funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Housing Authority of the Township of North Bergen administers the program within the Township of North Bergen.

Successful participation in the program requires that a participating family fulfill its obligations to its landlord and the North Bergen Housing Authority.
